The Minnesota Ambulance Association has worked diligently to achieve many legislative and regulatory wins for the industry over the years. The efforts of the Association's Board of Directors, Legislative Committee and active, engaged members are the key to successful government affairs and advocacy.
The MAA continues to promote and lobby for legislation that supports the viability of ambulance operations of all sizes and business structure.
Recent Advocacy Wins:
▸$30m in one-time ambulance aid payments statewide.
▸$24m for operational & capital expenses. $6m for rural “sprint medic” pilot programs.
▸New uncompensated care funding + operating deficit support
▸$8.6m for a new rural EMS uncompensated care fund for the 2026–27 biennium.
▸Protected the $4.9m uncompensated care fund so it continues annually.
▸Defeated new ambulance data collection & reporting mandates.
▸Preserved the Primary Service Area (PSA) system against regulatory rollback.
▸Adjusted/increased EMT education reimbursement rates & expanded paramedic scholarships.
